How the Lancaster County Democratic Committee is organized.

Lancaster County Democratic Committee:

Lancaster County is divided into districts that organize the party at the local level. Districts generally follow school district borders (with a few exceptions). Warwick is our district.

Warwick Democratic Committee:

Each District is divided into voting precincts. Your voting precinct is the area represented by your polling place. Warwick has 16 precincts.

Precinct Committee People:

Per LCDC bylaws, each precinct can have 2 Committee People, for a total of 32 seats in Warwick. Committee People serve four-year terms in sync with gubernatorial elections.

What does a Committee Person do?

Committee People do the local, on-the-ground work of representing the Democratic Party in their neighborhood.

If you’ve ever gotten an “I voted!” sticker at your polling place, those were probably your local Committee People. But they do a lot more than hand out stickers on election day!

As a Committee Person, you’re expected to:

  • Be a resource for voters in your precinct by staying up-to-date on voter registration deadlines, election dates, polling place changes, and candidates for office.

  • Attend Warwick Democrats meetings regularly and stay up-to-date on our current initiatives and activities.

  • Vote on motions put before the Committee.

  • Help circulate candidate petitions and distribute campaign materials.

  • Help canvass and organize your precinct to get out the vote.

  • Greet voters at the polls on election day.

Becoming a Committee Person is easier than you think!

There are two ways to become a Committee Person: By election or by appointment.

  • Option 1

Be appointed by the District Leader (between elections)

Between elections, the District Leader may simply appoint Committee People to fill precinct vacancies. If you’d like to remain a Committee Person at the end of your term, you’ll need to run for reelection in the next gubernatorial primary election, which will be in 2026.

  • Option 2

Become a Committee Person by Running for Election

Volunteers simply need 10 registered Democrats in their precinct to sign a ballot petition and then receive at least 10 votes from Democrats in their precinct during the gubernatorial primary election (2026). No campaigning or expenses are required to run for Committee Person!

Interested in becoming a Committee Person in your precinct?

Please fill out this form. We’ll get back to you as soon as we can!
